South Sudan faces worsening humanitarian crisis

Calm returned to South Sudan’s capital, Juba on Tuesday after five days of fierce fighting between troops loyal to President Salva Kiir and Vice-President Riek Machar.
There were no sounds of gunfire across the city, which has been deserted as residents either fled or went into hiding to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
Thousands have sought shelter at the United Nations bases in the city.The majority of displaced fled their homes stressing the need for an urgent humanitarian intervention to provide shelter, food and water.
