Spacemen spot brightest supernova

An international team of astronomers led by Subo Dong from China’s Peking University said Thursday that they have spotted a violent stellar explosion, known as a supernova.

And it is the brightest ever.

The stellar explosion is about 200 times more powerful than a typical supernova and more than twice as luminous as the previous record holder.

At its peak intensity, the explosion shone brighter than 570 billion Suns.
