Sri Lanka attracts investment from China

The Sri Lankan government has been trying to secure more investment from China and India,the country’s foreign minister said on Tuesday.

Mangala Samaraweera said diverse sources of foreign direct investments will help reduce Sri Lanka’s dependence on apparel and tea exports.

Samaraweera added that the government targets 1 million new jobs within five years by increasing investment and boosting exports.

Samaraweera told the parliament that Sri Lanka is also eyeing prospects for investment from other friendly countries including Pakistan, Malaysia and Thailand.
