‘Strike politics sad when int’l community said Indian action is correct’

Even as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar explicitly mentioned that the Indian Army deserves the credit and added that he would like the credit to be shared with the entire nation and even ‘doubting Thomases,’ the Opposition continues to question the Centre.

Air Marshal (Retd) P K Barbora, Former Vice Chief of Air Staff, speaking on The Newshour on ‘political parties playing politics over army’s surgical strikes in PoK’, said it is sad that at a time when internationally Indian government’s operation is being hailed, a few political parties are trying to get some mileage out of the Indian Army’s successful operation, by dragging in soldiers for their agenda.

“I have served in the NDA for 45 years. It is a very sad for me that when the acts of valour by our soldiers have been dragged into the mud. And, this is the responsibility of the political parties more so the opposition. What difference does it make if you call it a surgical strike or retaliatory strike. It is the act of valour of the soldiers and not of the politicians. We are there to defend the nation against the enemy. But political parties standing up to defend themselves. Sad. Very sad day. Do we require an external enemy with so many internal enemies. We need to come together and as a nation stand up. Internationally it is accepted that our response is correct,” said the former Vice Chief of Air Staff.
