Sunanda Pushkar Murder Report Out

The viscera report of Sunanda Pushkar, the late wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, has ruled out the possibility of her death due to polonium poisoning or because of any other radioactive substance. The Delhi police chief BS Bassi on Wednesday (November 11) confirmed receiving the report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) lab in Washington, adding that the report was being examined. “An email copy of the viscera report has been received by the Delhi Police,” said Bassi. Pushkar’s viscera samples were sent to Washington in February to determine the type of poison that is suspected to have caused her death. An AIIMS medical board had identified poisoning as the reason behind her death but did not mention the type of the poison. A detailed analysis of the viscera samples is given in the report, according to sources. The FBI report is supposed to be more detailed than the AIIMS report, with a few more isotopes recognised from the samples. According to sources, the 50-page FBI report is ‘exhaustive’. Reportedly, Tharoor is likely to be quizzed soon. Pushkar was found dead in a five-star hotel suite here on January 17 last year, a day after she was involved in a spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on Twitter over the latter’s alleged affair with Tharoor.
