Suspected gas explosion reported in NE China

A suspected gas explosion was reported at a residential apartment in Shenyang, northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Thursday.

The blast occurred at around 11:50 a.m. No casualties have been reported, but a CGTN reporter witnessed a number of injured individuals being sent to hospitals.

The blast has left massive destruction on the apartment block, with firefighters ambulances and police officers all on site.

There is speculation on social media that the possible cause of the accident might be related to a gas leakage.

An investigation into the blast is underway. Firefighters are still trying to locate any missing residents inside the building.
