Suzette Jordan’s Family To Appeal In High Court | Park Street Rape Case

Speaking to TIMES NOW Anirban Guhathakurta, Suzette Jordan’s lawyer, said that they will file appeal in the High Court against the judgement pronounced to Jordan’s rapists. “We are not satisfied at all. Only because of the fact that the punishment awarded happened before the amendment in the law. One can’t be guilty for 10 years,” said Guhathakurta. A Kolkata sessions court sentenced three accused in the Kolkata Park Street rape case to 10-year of life imprisonment. Court has also asked the accused- Ruman Khan, Sumit Bajaj, Nasir Khan, to pay fine of Rs 1 lakh each. Suzette Jordan, who had survived the gang-rape inside a moving car in Kolkata on February 5, 2012, died in March, 2015, due to multiple organ failure after she was diagnosed with encephalitis.
