Taiwan earthquake:Confirmed deaths rise to 40, over 100 still missing

Rescue efforts continue in Taiwan after the ’72-hour golden time’ rescue period expired since a magnitude 6.7 earthquake hit on Saturday morning. Forty people are now confirmed dead, of which 38 victims are from the 17-story Wei Guan building that tilted and eventually collapsed on Saturday. Signs of life are still detected in the rubble of the building, and rescue efforts have intensified.
