Test flights have been successful at a new airport in a resort town in southern China’s Hainan province.
The town, Boao, is venue of the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, a non-profit organization founded in 2001 committed to promoting economic integration in Asia.
Construction of the airport began in March last year with an estimated investment of about 173 million U.S. dollars.
This year’s forum will be held from March 22 to 25, during which political, business and academic leaders will discuss pressing global and regional issues.
The airport is expected to start trial operation just before that.
