For the last 10 years in Thailand, power has alternated between elected governments led by billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra and ruled by an arch-royalist army and its establishment allies. Sunday’s vote will be the first time Thais have headed to the polls since generals snatched power from former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in 2014.
