The Commerce Ministry of Thailand says the country has signed Government-to-government(G2G) rice deals with China.
Thailand’s Foreign Trade Department said under the new contracts, about 1 million tonnes of rice will be shipped to China in August.
Major buyers including the Philippines and Indonesia are expected to sign more G2G rice deals with Thailand in the rest of the year.
For the first six months, rice exports rose 11.4 per cent year on year to 4.71 million tonnes .
The ministry expects rice exports to increase in the latter half of this year and meet this year’ s target of 9.5 million tonnes.
