Thailand’s Prime Minister, Prayuth Chan-ocha, has promised that democratic elections will be held by late next year or early in 2018 after a decisive victory in the constitutional referendum on Sunday. Although the Yes vote was no surprise, the size of the majority was unexpected, with over sixty percent of voters backing the draft. There was also resigned acceptance to the result from opponents of the charter. CCTV’s Tony Cheng has the story.
