The Abe Statement in the eyes of Japanese scholars

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe released a statement marking 70 years since the end of WWII. He did not mention directly the country’s aggression and colonial rule, but said that as a third party we shall abandon colonial rule forever, and even declared that the Japanese born after the war should not be predestined to apologize. He shied away from the aggressive history and attempted to stop apologizing, which are widely criticized by Japanese scholars.
