The Last Adventures Of Singapore’s Paragliding Quake Hero

“There is a saying in aviation: Every pilot is a hero. KC was a superhero.” When ex-commando Ng Kok Choong, or KC, died in a paraglider accident last year in Bir Billing, India, he didn’t just leave his wife and 3 children behind, he left behind his legacy as an earthquake hero.

In September 2018, when the 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit Palu in central Sulawesi, KC was in the midst of it. He was there for a paragliding competition and was faced a host of challenges including the collapse of the hotel he was staying in, and trying to save a mother and her child trapped under debris. Then, there was a tsunami.
