Rashneek Kher, founder of Roots in Kashmir, today questioned the stance of the two Kashmiri parties- National Conference and PDP – about the removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Acts (AFSPA) from certain areas of Kashmir. “Both these parties had given recommendations to remove AFSPA in the very areas which had been attacked in the last one year. So, they have to hide their heads in shame for asking the centre government to remove AFSPA from the areas where we have seen killings today,” he said. He also criticised the policies of the earlier Farooq Abdullah government, with respect to fighting terrorism. However, Junaid Matoo, Spokesperson, National Conference said that Kher was “misrepresenting facts.” The second debate of THE NEWSHOUR tonight saw Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, along with panellists – Junaid Matoo, Spokesperson, National Conference; Abhijit Jasrotia, Spokesperson, PDP; Jaiveer Shergill, Advocate, Supreme Court and Media Panelist, Congress; Rahul Narvekar, Spokesperson & MLC, NCP; Rashneek Kher, Founder Member, Roots in Kashmir; Maroof Raza, Strategic Affairs Analyst; RSN Singh, Former RAW Officer- discuss if it is time for the Kashmir parties to end appeasement to the separatists.
