Thousands of students, civil servants and military cadets have gathered in the Thai capital Bangkok to promote the constitutional referendum on Sunday. The two biggest political parties oppose the constitution, and say some of the provisions are designed to ensure long-term military supervision over politics. The ruling military junta refers to itself as the National Council for Peace and Order. It says it wants to hand power back and return Thailand to democracy.
