Thousands protest in Beirut over Lebanon’s trash crisis

The Lebanese government opened three landfills on Saturday as a temporary solution for the country’s seven-month trash crisis. In the capital Beirut, more than 2,000 protesters rejected the option of temporary landfills and demanded a long-term waste-disposal plan. Information Minister Ramzi Jreij said the temporary solution will last four years and by then a permanent solution will be in place.
