Three Indonesian fishermen and a Norwegian national have been released by the Islamic State-linked Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines. The Norwegian, Kjartan Sekkingstad, was freed on Saturday and was taken under the care of a political organization based in the south of the country. Sekkingstad had been held hostage for a year. The three Indonesians were released the next day. They were abducted in July from Sabah, Malaysia. The Indonesian armed forces have expressed gratitude to the Philippine government.
