Tibetan pilgrims circle Jokhang Temple to mark Butter Lamp Day

Saturday is the annual Tibetan Butter Lamp Day – a day to commemorate Tsong Khapa, founder founder of a sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the Gelupga — also known as the “yellow hat”.

Every year, Tibetans commemorate the day by lighting butter lamps and praying for happiness and good health.
