This time-lapse video captured the moment on Wednesday when the 33rd and last immersed tube for the construction of the tunnel section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was towed from its construction dock to be put in place. The opening of the dock gates took some three hours, with six sets of cables needed to pull open the dock gates. Upon its completion next year, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao immersed-tube tunnel, which will be around 6.7km long and positioned to the west of Hong Kong’s Lantau Island, will be the first offshore underwater tunnel in China, and will also be the longest immersed-tube highway tunnel in the world.
