Tipu Sultan’s Grand Son REACTS to Controversy Over Tipu Jayanti

TIMES NOW spoke to Anwar Ali Shah, great grandson of Tipu Sultan and crown prince who says that it’s unfortunate that politics is being played over Tipu Sultan. The Karnataka government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary on November 10 stirred a controversy after right-wing Jomy

groups, backed by RSS and BJP, decided to protest and started pressuring the government to cancel the event. They alleged that Tipu was a “very intolerant” ruler and carried out atrocities against his Hindu subjects. Earlier activist Girish Karnad has received death threat on social media over his statement on Tipu Sultan. Karnad said Tipu Sultan would have enjoyed the same status as of Maratha king Chhatrapathi Shivaji, if he was a Hindu and not a Muslim.
