A limping pig jeopardized its life by running on a highway in Nantong city, east China’s Jiangsu Province – but it was the heat not a passing car that dealt the hog a fatal blow, it has been reported. The local traffic department spotted the loose pig hogging the expressway thanks to surveillance cameras, and dispatched two officers to the scene. Police said monitoring videos had shown the pig jumping from a livestock truck, injuring one of its forelimbs in the process, before starting its road rampage. One of the officers tried keeping the animal away from the busy lanes using a baton, but it was not long before the pig dropped dead. High temperatures have been blamed, as the asphalt temperatures stood at 60 degrees Celsius.
