Train Mishap In MP | ‘It looks like a case of flash floods’

Giving more details on the twin train derailment, Railway Board Chairman AK Mittal on Wednesday (August 5) said, “Kamayani Express from Mumbai to Varanasi and Janata Express towards Mumbai was passing 20 km from Harda, Madhya Pradesh near a bridge. Till 10 minutes back at this spot the train movement was normal and there was no problem.” “It appears that sudden flash floods came in 10 minutes time which resulted in disturbance of track and consequently the derailment of two trains,” he added. “All the passengers are sent to Itarsi and those who got minor injuries were given first aide and were also sent to Itarsi. Prima facie it looks like a case of flash floods,” he stated. “Our General Manager of West Central Zone has reached the site already and the Dy Regional Manager is also at the accident site and are supervising the rescue work there,” he added. Two Express trains derailed late last night while crossing a bridge on swollen Machak river near Harda in Madhya Pradesh. Twenty passengers have died and several injured, senior district officials said.
