Transportation in southeast China affected by Typhoon Meranti

Typhoon Meranti has severely disrupted transportation around southeast China, including air, train, ferry and expressway services. Major airlines have cancelled flights in and out of southeast China’s Xiamen city and south China’s Jieyang city. A number of train services heading to Xiamen have also been suspended, as have the ferry services from Xiamen city and Kinmen Island. Expressways in east China’s Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong provinces have been affected as well. Authorities have warned drivers to be cautious on slippery roads, to prevent traffic accidents.
