Trapped explorers rescued after 54 hours

Eight explorers have been rescued after being trapped 54 hours in remote areas in Xinjiang.

Local firefighters found the eight trapped explorers on Saturday evening near the Keriya River, in Yutian County, northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The rescued have been sent back to the county center. They are in good condition.

The explorers come from Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in east China.

They were trapped at an altitude of 4,800 to 4,900 meters. Their vehicle was caught by a sudden flood and then failed, when they were driving through a river.
