Trapped old man rescued from asphalt pit

An old man was saved by firefighters after he fell into a pit of asphalt where he was trapped for more than 12 hours in Rongcheng City, Shandong Province.

The pit was about five meters in diameter and near three meters in depth. To stop the old man from completely sinking, two firefighters used clothes to support his feet, arms and head. Meanwhile other rescuers transported mud and sand to isolate the old man from the pitch.

After 3 hours’ effort, the firefighters covered the old man with a bed sheet and carried him onto the ambulance.

The man was in a sound and healthy condition after treatment, and went home for recuperation, according to doctors.
