Turkey announces a three month state of emergency to quell turmoil

Turkey has announced a series of emergency measures in what the government says is a bid to shore up stability and prevent economic damage. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a state of emergency on Wednesday in a security meeting with his cabinet following Friday’s failed coup. This comes as an additional six-thousand five-hundred employees of the country’s education ministry have been suspended.
