Turkey anti-terrorism rally

Thousands of Turkish people on Thursday took to the streets of Ankara to call for national unity to fight against terrorism.

The rally, under the slogan “Yes to unity and solidarity, no to terror”, came as conflicts have been escalating between Turkey’s security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, hindering the country’s efforts to fight against Islamic State militants.

Tensions rose after a Turkish military launched operation against Kurdish targets in June. More than 100 people have since been killed from each side, including civilians.
