A newly married Turkish couple decided to share their wedding feast with up to 4,000 Syrian refugees in the city of Kilis, with the bride and groom themselves handing out the meals.
Fethullah Uzumcuoglu and Esra Polat, who tied the knot near the Syrian border, invited to their wedding some of the refugees who have fled the armed conflict in Syria. The Turkish charity ‘Kimse Yok Mu’ (‘Is Anybody There?’) provided the food van from where the couple served the meals.
Nearly two million Syrians are currently in Turkey, from around four million in total who have fled the country since the start of the conflict there some four years ago.
