Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Turkey detained one of the Brussels attackers in June 2015 and deported him, before he was eventually released by Belgium. For years the EU and Turkey have been working towards tightening security in the wake of terrorist threats. The terror attacks across Brussels on Tuesday have thrown the spotlight on the new agreement between the EU and Turkey to control the flow of refugees crossing European borders.
