Turkey: Oiled-up wrestlers compete in ancient tradition

It’s a sport that needs a lot of oil to finish, and the goal is to get a hold on your opponent’s specially made pants.

The 654th Kirkpinar oil wrestling festival was held in the western Turkish city Edirne from Friday to Sunday.

The annual tournament is the oldest sanctioned sporting competition in the world, and has been held in the Edirne province since 1362.

It was enlisted to the UNESCO world intangible heritage lists in 2010.
