Turkey’s president to visit Russia, improve relations with Russia and the West

Turkey’s President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Russia on Tuesday to meet with President Vladimir Putin. Relations between the two nations are improving following Moscow’s trade sanctions imposed nine months ago, following Turkey’s downing of a Russian fighter jet. The meeting this Tuesday comes as Ankara’s relationship with the West continues to languish. Turkey’s relations with Europe and the United States are strained by the fallout from last month’s failed military coup.
