Twin boys sharing the same liver successfully separated

Doctors in southeast China’s Jiangxi Province have successfully separated twin boys who share the same liver.

The brothers, who are joined at the abdomen and share the functions of one liver, were born on Jan. 8.

It’s their mother, an 18-year-old’s first pregnancy, who gave birth via cesarean section.

Doctors say they waited for about 50 days for the babies’ skin to develop, before they undergo the surgery.

The boys are believed to be in stable conditions.
