China has activated an emergency response mechanism after a boat collision in Thailand that killed two Chinese tourists and injured dozens of others. Two fully loaded speedboat ferries collided on Wednesday near the touristy Phi-Phi Island, killing a woman and a man. Seven people are still in hospital, with two in serious condition. Officials from local Chinese consulate visited them in the hospital on Thursday. Thailand’s government says it will make every effort to resolve the issues that have stemmed from the incident.
