Typhoon Megi expected to make landfall on east China Wednesday

The powerful Typhoon Megi will likely make landfall in the eastern coast of China on Wednesday, days before the start of the country’s week-long National Day holiday. Weather authorities say as of 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning local time, the storm center of Typhoon Megi was about 1,700 kilometers to the southeast of Taiwan’s city of Taitung, and it will head northwest at 20 kilometers per hour to reach the coastal areas of Fujian and Guangdong provinces. Local authorities have been warned to guard against heavy rains and possible landslides.
