China’s weather authority has warned that a tropical storm has appeared in the west of the Pacific and is now moving towards China’s eastern coast. Meteorologists say Typhoon Nepartak, gaining speed and strength on its way to the Chinese mainland, is expected to reach Taiwan and the provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang later on Thursday, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall. Analysts can’t predict yet whether Typhoon Nepartak, the first to affect China this year, will make landfall or brush the coastline.
