U Htin Kyaw sworn in as Myanmar’s new president

U Htin Kyaw of Myanmar’s National League for Democracy, or NLD, has been sworn in as the country’s new president. He delivered his first address in the parliament before taking over the presidency from his predecessor Thein Sein. NLD Chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi became the country’s new foreign minister. She will also be the President’s Office minister, education minister and minister of electricity and energy.
