Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has demanded that Moscow immediately free Nadiya Savchenko, a military pilot on trial in Russia who is on hunger strike. Savchenko is accused of involvement in the death of two Russian state television journalists in a mortar attack that occurred after violence erupted in east Ukraine in 2014. The 34-year-old Iraq war veteran from Ukraine could face up to 23 years in prison if convicted.
