UN accuses South Sudan forces of rape and killing

The United Nations human rights office on Friday issued a report accusing the government of South Sudan of operating a “scorched earth policy” of deliberate rape, pillage and killing of civilians during the civil war in 2015. The report says the prevalence of rape “suggests its use in the conflict has become an acceptable practice by government soldiers and affiliated armed militias.”
