UN adopts resolution on combating sex crimes

The UN Security Council on Friday has backed Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s recommendations to repatriate peacekeeping units accused of sex crimes, or whose countries do not investigate allegations.  The 15-nation council has 14 votes in favor of the resolution and no votes against, with the exception of Egypt abstaining. The United Nations last week reported 99 such allegations in 2015. This marks a sharp increase from the 80 allegations in 2014.
