UN chief to attend China’s V-Day commemorations

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will arrive in China for a five-day visit starting next Wednesday. He will attend the V-Day celebrations in Beijing on September 3rd. Ahead of the trip, Ban met with the Chinese media at the UN Headquarters in New York. He said taking part in the commemorations is part of his duty as UN chief, and emphasized the importance of building upon lessons learned in the war for a brighter future.
