UN: South Sudanese government allegedly suffocated civilian

The United Nations has alleged that the South Sudanese government suffocated more than 50 civilians suspected of supporting the opposition in the town of Leer in Unity State. A human rights report found that both sides in the civil war, which began in 2013, targeted civilians, raping women and girls and killing many. South Sudan’s government has denied the allegations.
