UNICEF has said more than 650 children have been recruited into armed groups in South Sudan since the beginning of this year. The agency is calling for an immediate end to such recruitment and the unconditional release of all children. An estimated 16,000 children have been recruited in South Sudan since the conflict began in 2013. Meanwhile, the World Food Program said more than a third of the population of South Sudan is suffering emergency levels of food insecurity.
