UNICEF: Nearly 3 bln USD needed to assist children in 2016

The United Nations children’s agency, or UNICEF, says some 250 million children, or one in nine children worldwide, live in countries affected by violent conflicts. The agency said it will need nearly three billion US dollars this year to help the most vulnerable. The biggest chunk of that amount, about 1.2 billion, will be allocated to Syria and Syrian refugees in neighboring countries.
