United Nations “less equipped” to intervene in Burundi

The United Nations has said that it is less equipped to intervene in Burundi amid escalating violence. The security situation in the African republic has deteriorated following President Pierre Nkurunziza’s announcement to seek a third term in April. At least 250 people have been killed and about 200,000 people have fled to neighboring countries in the past six months due to the ongoing conflict.
