The US Labor Department’s closely watched employment report shows that non-farm payrolls increased by 255,000 jobs in July. That was a step down from June’s surge of 287,000 new jobs. Economists believe the July job growth will reinforce the Federal Reserve’s confidence in a labor market that’s viewed as being at or near full employment.
