US drops legal action against Apple for encrypted iPhone

The US Justice Department has asked a court to withdraw an order to ask tech giant Apple to decode data on an iPhone. The department said it had successfully accessed data stored on the smartphone, which was used by a shooter in San Bernardino last year. However, the fight over law enforcement access to encrypted information is by no means over. The US technology industry thinks that anything helps authorities bypass the security features of technology products, will undermine security for everyone.
