As the military operation against extremists continues, the US has found it also needs to win the propaganda war against Islamic State. A committee of tech industry professionals assembled by the US State Department to asses US anti-extremism messaging questions the effectiveness of the efforts and recommends outsourcing the mission by partnering with outside groups. The US State Department recently partnered with Sawab Center in the United Arab Emirates to counter the ISIL message online, largely in Arabic. However, the project was never pursued by US officials.
