The US and Japan are considering imposing unilateral sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea following its nuclear test last week. Sung Kim, the US special representative for DPRK policy, revealed the plans on Sunday, addressing reporters in Tokyo following his meeting with the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs, Kenji Kanasugi. Kim also said the US and Japan would work together very closely in the UN Security Council and beyond to come up with the strongest possible measures in response to the DPRK’s latest provocation.
