US rejects DPRK’s proposal for peace talks

The United States on Sunday rejected a DPRK proposal to discuss a peace treaty to formally end the Korean War, as the North refused to make efforts to denuclearize the Peninsular. US State Department spokesman John Kirby made clear that denuclearization had to be part of any such discussion. The Korean War ended in 1953 in an armistice, not a peace treaty. Now DPRK wants to sign a treaty.
